Public Restroom Reviews #3
I apologize for the lack of content, but I was running low on ideas. Thankfully I’m back up.
Today we’ll be reviewing Bob Evans Restaurant located at 1125 N Green River Rd, Evansville, IN.
As an aside, Bob Evans has surprisingly good food. And delicious pie. [Which is how I became so well acquainted with the bathroom.]
Odor – 4.
This bathroom didn’t really have a bad smell whenever I went into it, nor did it have a good smell. There was the definite smell of…bathroom, however, despite the obvious lack of perfume and/or fruit that normally fills any kind restroom. It wasn’t unpleasant, but the lack of odor-reducing things would make it unbearable if the proper people pooped.
—
Cleanliness – 2.
The bathroom was filthy. The walls and floor looked like they hadn’t been cleaned and the sink was unpleasant in itself. The toilet, however, appeared to be relatively clean. Hopefully they just hadn’t cleaned it yet for the day, but it was rather off-putting.
—
Appearance – 2
The stalls are set up in an odd fashion. The first one is designed for those in need of additional assistance1 so it was wide with a section for your wheelchair and bars designed to assist.
The other stall was set up in a similar manner (as opposed to the door being directly in front of the toilet, like it is in most larger areas, it was placed ahead of the toilet and to the side, perpendicular-ish) only it was long instead of wide.
Both, however, give a distinct sense of claustrophobia with it’s heavy tiled walls.
—
Functionality – 4.
Well, everything worked. Though the soap dispenser was kind of weird.
—
Comfort of Toilet Paper – 3
It was basically the same kind of toilet paper you always see, but it had bumps on it. It was slightly less uncomfortable than what it normally is, so I upped the score slightly.
—
Number of Stalls/Urinals
There were, as I recall, two stalls and two urinals.
—
All in all it wasn’t a very fun experience (as though using a public restroom is ever a “fun” experience. Given the option I would rather hold it in, but 30 minutes is a long time when you have to poop). Aside from the lack of comfort, I had to deal with people holding a meeting or something outside of my stall.
Normally I don’t have a problem with that, what with Bob Evans being a “family” eating place where you’re obviously more relaxed than if you were at, say, Immanuel’s House of Pretentious Plates or Chateau Cherie or whatever the hell people name eateries these days. Damn kids.
The toilet was a manual flush, which I didn’t really enjoy as the handle looked rather disgusting, so I flushed using my shoe. The sink and paper-towels were also manual, and the sink used two dials to control the water instead of just one.
The bathroom was cramped, too. Most bathrooms give the feeling that you can actually allow people to stand and wait while the room clears and all of that, but this one felt genuinely cramped to the point that I was very uncomfortable despite being the only person in the room.
That’s all I can think of for this one. Tune in next time when we’ll review…something else…
